The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it is making young people in Nigeria feel hopeless because the government is ignoring them.
Chief Ralph Nwosu, the National Chairman of the ADC, spoke about this in Abuja during the opening of the ADC Youth Council.
He explained, “Other countries are creating jobs and involving young people in sports and other activities. They have policies to use the creativity of the youth. But our government is only focused on holding back the young and spending money wastefully.”
“We keep hearing about this Renewed Hope Agenda. But where are the plans? What goals do we have for our economy, for the Aviation Minister, for tourism? Everything is just falling apart.
“More than 70 percent of our people are young men and women. But the APC government doesn’t seem to care about them.
“Nigeria’s GDP is around $200 million. In comparison, companies like Apple, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft each make trillions of dollars every year.”””
“What’s even more amazing is that four of these companies were started by young men in their 20s,” noted Nwosu.
He also pointed out that, unlike Saudi Arabia, which has a clear plan for its future, including selling parts of its state-owned oil company, Nigeria doesn’t have a clear direction.
The ADC chairman said that the ADC Youth Council is being launched to bring new and innovative ideas that will light up not just Nigeria but all of Africa.
