Abayomi Tella is now the new leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State. He shared his plans to make the party strong, successful, and ready for future challenges.
He talked about this after he won the election for party Chairman in a meeting held in Abeokuta. This meeting was watched by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make sure it was fair.
Tella promised that, with him as the leader, the PDP would bring back its strong image and success as a ruling party. Tella previously led the Ado-Odo/Ota local government and now will work with Sunday Solarin, who will assist him as the secretary.
He said, “Even though the current ruling party, APC, used tricky ways to win the 2023 elections in Ogun State, there was no strong challenge against them.”
Tella expressed his confidence, “Our party, PDP, will be in a better place to win the next election in Ogun State. The recent meetings and elections in our State have been calm, fair, and honest.”
He continued, “The PDP once brought economic growth and success to Ogun State. But under the APC government, we have lost those good things, and now many people are struggling with poverty.”
Talking about the elections in Edo State, Tella said the PDP was cheated out of power. He called on the electoral body to get better at their job to show they can truly run fair elections that the whole country can trust.
He said, “Sadly, our party lost power unfairly in Edo State. We are upset about how elections are becoming less honest.”
Tella added, “We thought we were moving forward to have elections like advanced countries where the process is better, and it brings real and dedicated leaders that our country needs.”
