A man dies after taking an herbal tea

A 26-year-old man died in Ogun State after reportedly taking a herbal mixture.

On Monday, Edereno travelled from Ijebu Ode to Asa Elegbada, a village near Owode Egba, to consult a 28-year-old traditional healer, Ifakunle Olanrewaju, for a pain in his leg.

Unfortunately, the patient died after Mr. Olanrewaju administered him a herbal mixture.

Confirming the incident on Friday, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola said Edereno was found dead at his home at around 7am on Thursday.

He said the traditional healer reported the incident to the police, saying the deceased was his regular client.

“According to his account, he stated that on Tuesday, a Monday, 26-year-old Edereno, a customer who used to patronize his herbal concoction, visited him from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State and had earlier complained of uncomfortable pain in his right leg on Wednesday and Olanrewaju, in his usual manner, provided him with some herbal concoctions.

“Unfortunately, on 09/12/2024 at approximately 07:00 hours, Edereno was found dead at his home.”

The police spokesman said the remains of the deceased were taken to the General Hospital mortuary, Owode Egba, for post-mortem and investigation was ongoing to determine the cause of his death.
