A group supports school girls with sanitary pads in Lagos

A non-governmental organization (NGO), Caroline Initiative, has provided sanitary pads and educational materials to school girls in Lagos State.

The group, in a statement released on Friday, said the “Pad a Girl” event, held at Dynamos College, aimed to promote menstrual hygiene and support academic development.

According to the statement, the campaign saw significant participation from enthusiastic young people, who benefited from the resources provided.

The organization noted that the campaign addresses “the critical issue of menstrual hygiene management, which remains a major barrier to education for many girls in Nigeria.”

By providing sanitary pads, the organization said it aims to reduce absenteeism and empower girls to attend school with confidence and dignity.

In addition, each girl was distributed sanitary pads that could last a specific amount of time and educational materials such as notebooks and pens were also provided to assist in their studies.

In his statements, the founder of the initiative, Quadri Adejumo, stated that education is an engine of change and that no girl deserves to miss school due to lack of adequate menstrual hygiene products.

“And that’s why we made it possible. Through this campaign, we provide menstrual supplies and a safe environment where girls can thrive academically and personally,” said journalist Adejumo.

Adejumo reiterated the organization’s commitment to creating a world where every child can reach their full potential.

“This is not the first and it surely will not be the last. We have enacted projects to improve the lives of children and are committed to doing more.

“Recently, we conducted a school outreach campaign for primary school children in Ibadan. And in the coming months, we will do many. Thank you to those who support us,” she said.

The event featured interactive sessions where health experts and volunteers shared vital information, addressed concerns and ensured girls understood how to manage their menstrual health effectively.

According to the organization, its goals are to provide sanitary pads, reduce school absenteeism, and empower girls to attend school with confidence and dignity.
