Man Killed, Hand Severed in Ogun as Rival Cults Clash

A middle-aged man, known as Mosquito, was attacked and killed by suspected cult group members in Ijagun, near Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.

People found Mosquito lying in a pool of his own blood. His left hand was missing. Mosquito was a member of a group called the Aye confraternity.

The Ogun State Police Command shared this information on Monday.

The Police said they got a call for help. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found six used bullet shells.

Here is what the police statement said: “At about 11:40 PM on August 11, 2024, a concerned person called to say that cult members were fighting along Ijagun Road in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

“Right away, the Divisional Police Officer sent a team of officers to the scene.

“When the officers arrived, they found an unidentified middle-aged man with cuts and gunshot wounds.

“His left hand was missing and could not be found. Later, we found out that the man was called ‘Mosquito’ and was a member of the Aye confraternity. We also found six used bullet shells at the scene.”

The police took Mosquito’s body to Ijebu Ode State Hospital, where doctors confirmed he was dead.
