The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 11 people suspected of internet fraud in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale shared this news in a statement on Monday.
He said the suspects, which include nine men and two women, were arrested along Ikpa Road. They were driving fancy cars and showing off, which made people suspect they were involved in internet fraud.
The items taken from them include several cars. These cars are a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with registration ABC 553 LD Abuja, a Toyota Camry LE with registration KKN 48 AE Akwa Ibom, two Honda Accords with registrations LSR 754 AQ Lagos and LSR 475 FN Lagos, a Toyota sedan with registration RBC 1898J Abuja, and a Lexus 300 sedan with registration JJJ 423 JK Lagos.
Besides the cars, officers also found 15 smartphones and 10 bundles of N200 notes with the suspects.
Dele Oyewale mentioned that they will charge the suspects in court after completing their investigations.
