In Okwuzi community, Rivers State, officers and men of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder found a home that had been turned into an illegal oil refinery.
Commodore Desmond Igbo, the leader of NNS Pathfinder, took a team to see this illegal refinery. He told reporters on Friday that they found over 200,000 liters of diesel oil that was illegally made.
During this action, they arrested two people.
Commodore Igbo said that finding this illegal refinery was part of their job to stop the stealing of crude oil in the Niger Delta area. They used a lot of smart strategies to find it.
He explained that the amount of illegal diesel oil they found was very big. Some of it was in sacks, some in drums, and over 62 tanks were filled with it.
He confirmed that all 200,000 liters were made from crude oil that was stolen from pipelines.
Commodore Igbo also said the arrested people would be given to the agencies that will take them to court and that the home would be closed down.
He advised young people in the area not to let anyone use them to harm the country’s economy.
