In the United States, 10 states are really good at using Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is making more jobs for people.
AI is very important because it can do many things. States want to be number one in using AI. Some states are becoming very good at AI.
Russell Wald from the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI explains how they figured out the best states for AI:
“We used a report called the Stanford Institute’s AI Index Report. This report tells us where the AI jobs are, which states are making new AI things, and which states have rules about AI.
“We also used other information from state legislatures and data on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) jobs. We looked at computing power too because it’s important for AI.”
From this information, these are the best 10 states for AI jobs:
California
California is number one. Schools like Stanford and big companies like Google and Meta are here. The state is also spending a lot of money on AI and trying to make even better rules for it.
Washington
Washington is home to Microsoft and Amazon. The state is making lots of AI models and laws about AI. They are helping to run the future of AI.
Maryland
Maryland is making rules on how to use AI in jobs. Johns Hopkins University has a very powerful computer for AI. The state is planning more ways to use AI.
Virginia
The governor of Virginia wants to use AI in schools, police work, and technology. The state has very good schools for teaching about AI. They have many smart workers ready to help with AI.
Texas
Texas has many people working in technology and the state doesn’t put too many rules on AI. This helps and also makes challenges. They are making plans for more AI ideas in the future.
Massachusetts
Massachusetts is very good with AI in finance and healthcare. The state is making rules to protect people from bad uses of AI. They are also hiring many people to work with AI.
Illinois
Illinois has some of the world’s best computers. They are leading in AI research. The state has rules for using AI during interviews, making them good with AI policies.
Colorado
Colorado has laws to make sure AI is fair and open to everyone. The governor signed a new law that may change as AI gets better and better.
New York
New York has projects like Empire AI and is putting money into AI research. They are making many AI models and have a growing tech industry.
Utah
Utah has many tech workers and good laws for AI. The state wants companies to tell people when they use AI. This makes Utah important in making AI rules.
