Must Read

The Abia State Police Command has shared some sad news. Six people, including a police officer named Shehu Oyibo, two attackers, and three regular people, lost their lives in Aba on Sunday. This happened during an attack on a police patrol team.

The event occurred at around 11:28 am. Police officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were patrolling Ngwa Road by Mosque Junction in Aba when armed attackers suddenly opened fire on them.

A police spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, said the attackers were in a grey Sienna vehicle when they shot at the police. The police fought back, which helped to prevent a more serious situation.

During the exchange of gunfire, two attackers were killed, but others got away, although they were hurt. Sadly, a police officer, Inspector Shehu Oyibo, and three regular people—Chika Godliveth, Onyenaturuchi Jonah (32 years old from Item in Bende LGA of Abia State), and Eniobong Godsgift Clement (18 years old, a young lady from Akwa Ibom State) were killed by the attackers’ bullets.

The bodies of those who died have been taken to a mortuary. The police are still looking for the attackers who ran away.

The Abia State Police Command wants everyone to know they can continue their daily lives without fear. More police officers have been sent to important places to keep everyone safe. If you see anyone acting suspiciously or if you notice someone with bullet injuries, please report it to the nearest police station.
