NSCDC Parades Eight Suspects for Alleged Illegal Petroleum Dealings in Akwa Ibom

Must Read

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday showed nine people they caught doing bad things with petrol and cutting cables without permission in Akwa Ibom State.

The boss of the NSCDC in the state, Eluyemi Eluwade, showed these people to the news reporters at their main office in Uyo. He said his team also took three big trucks carrying a lot of petrol, about 135,000 liters!

He said, “Our team caught these people on July 14 on the Ikot Abasi-Port Harcourt Expressway in Akwa Ibom.”

“The trucks were stopped so we could check their papers. We wanted to see the right documents, like the licence to buy, sell, and transport petrol, as the law says.

“These people couldn’t show all the right papers, so we had to catch them and take their trucks. This is because what they were doing with the petrol was against the law, as detailed in the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

“Two of these trucks were carrying about 45,000 liters each of Diesel, a type of petrol. The third truck had about 45,000 liters of a petrol product that looked like Crude oil or maybe used engine oil, which also needs a special licence to buy, sell, or transport.”

Talking about another bad person, the state boss said their team on July 15 in Idu Uruan, Uruan LGA caught him for messing with and stealing Armoured Cables from a transformer at the Nigeria Medical Association Center in Uruan.

He said the suspect was working with other bad people who broke the security at the place where he was supposed to keep safe. They stole the armoured cable.

Eluwade promised that the NSCDC is serious about stopping all illegal activities, like stealing petrol, mixing petrol with bad stuff, operating without a licence, and making illegal petrol. He assured that these bad people will go to court after they finish their investigation.
