Abuja Police Arrest Three Suspects in Connection with Home Invasion and Gold Theft

Must Read

Sure! Here’s a rewritten version of the blog post using simple English:

The police have caught three people for breaking into houses and stealing gold and other valuable things in Abuja.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who talks for the police, shared this news during a meeting in the capital city.

Adejobi explained that the police team called the Intelligence Response Team, or IRT, found the suspects after looking into the case.

He said the main suspect was a fish seller at the Kado fish market in Abuja.

Adejobi told the story of how the suspects broke into three houses in the Lugbe area and then went for a fourth house. They climbed over the fence and used a car jack to make the window bars wider so they could get inside.

Once they were inside the house, they found a safe. They used a hammer and chisel to open the safe. Inside, they found money, papers, and gold.

“After finding these things, the main suspect called a buyer. He sold the items and got over ₦60 million,” Adejobi said.

In another operation, the IRT team caught 16 people who were stealing motorcycles and tricycles in Plateau State.

Adejobi said the police caught them after getting good tips. These people would work mostly at night, stealing parked tricycles and pretending to be police officers to take motorcycles.

He said they used fake ID cards to pretend they were real police. They would stop motorcyclists and accuse them of being out too late.

They told the motorcyclists to pick up their bikes from the nearest police station but would sell the stolen bikes to a group in their network.

Police got back eight motorcycles and 11 tricycles from these suspects.

In the past six weeks, police have caught a total of 1,284 people for different crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, murder, and cult-related activities.

Out of these, 307 people were caught for armed robbery, 296 for kidnapping, 301 for murder, 176 for rape, and 204 for cult activities.

During this time, police also got back 284 guns, 6,702 bullets of different types, and 107 vehicles. Plus, they saved 97 kidnapped people, Adejobi said.

The police asked Nigerians to report bad officers and said the community needs to help for everyone’s safety.
