Death Penalty for Two Convicted in Deadly Delta Armed Robbery

Must Read

A Delta State High Court in Asaba has sentenced two men to death for armed robbery and murder.

Their names are Abdulrasheed Mohammed and Aliyu Bawa.

These two men committed the crimes on May 29, 2020, at Oni Edozien Street, near Ezenei Avenue in Asaba.

Mrs. Esther Azomani from the State Ministry of Justice told the court about what happened. She said that on that day, Abdulrasheed and Aliyu, along with two other people who are still on the run, were riding in a tricycle (commonly known as Keke). They robbed a man named Ifeanyi Okafor and took his mobile phones.

During the robbery, they stabbed Ifeanyi in the chest, and he died because of it.

After the robbery, Abdulrasheed and Aliyu sold the stolen phones to another man named Daniel Joseph for N6,000.

The Police were able to find the phones with Daniel and arrested him. Daniel then led the Police to Abdulrasheed and Aliyu, and they were also arrested.

Justice Onome Marshall-Umukoro was the judge in this case. He said that the prosecutors gave enough proof to show that Abdulrasheed and Aliyu committed the crimes.

The judge found them guilty and gave them the death penalty.

However, the judge said that there wasn't enough proof against Daniel Joseph to say he knew the phones were stolen. So, he was released and found not guilty.

Hope this helps!
