Good news! Soon, cholera vaccines will come to Nigeria, thanks to a group called Gavi.
This update came from the head of Gavi, Sania Nishtar, who shared the information on his X page.
Sania said Gavi will team up with UNICEF and WHO to fight the cholera outbreak in Nigeria.
“We’re ready to join hands with UNICEF, WHO, and Nigeria’s Health Minister, Muhammad Pate, to stop this illness. We want to help protect those in danger,” Sania said.
“Even though there have been many cholera outbreaks this year, we now have enough vaccines. Factories are making them as fast as possible,” he added.
So far, Nigeria has seen 3,623 possible cholera cases and 103 people have passed away across 34 states.
