The Cross River and Akwa Ibom Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) stopped 26,625 liters of petrol being smuggled in Cross River.
Mr. Kehinde Ejibunu, who is in charge of the Federal Operations Unit in Lagos, said this in Calabar on Tuesday.
Mr. Ejibunu explained that the petrol was hidden in 1,065 containers. The total value of this petrol is N40,054,125.
This capture was made by a special group called ‘Operation Whirl Wind’ in Zone C.
“This capture came right after other big captures of petrol smuggling in Lagos and Kebbi states,” said Mr. Ejibunu.
“We are here in Calabar, where the Cross River/Akwa Ibom Command is, to tell everyone about the good work done by Operation Whirl Wind in Zone C,” he added.
“Today, we stopped 1,065 containers of petrol, which contain 26,625 liters of petrol and one vehicle used for smuggling.”
“These captures were made at many spots like Agbalagba-Ikom, Akansoko road, and Ikom-Ogoja road,” he explained.
“Working with NMDPRA, we made sure the petrol went from the depot to the final selling places,” Mr. Ejibunu said.
