APGA Founder Tells Governor Soludo to Leave Quietly

Chekwas Okorie, the man who started the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has told Governor Chukwuma Soludo to leave the party if he wants to.

Chekwas said that Governor Soludo has a plan to destroy the party. APGA is the party that helped him become the governor of Anambra State.

Chekwas also said that Governor Soludo promised him that he would never work with Edozie Njoku, who is now the National Chairman of the party.

In a meeting with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, Chekwas said that Soludo is supporting other groups inside the party. One of these groups is led by Victor Oyeh. This is happening even though the Supreme Court has said Njoku is the real Chairman, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) agrees.

According to DAILY POST, INEC followed the Supreme Court’s decision made on March 24, 2023. This decision was confirmed by the FCT High Court on June 6, 2023, and the Court of Appeal on June 28, 2024. They all recognized Njoku as the Chairman.

But Chekwas thinks that Soludo is attacking this victory. Chekwas said Soludo recently announced at an event in Anambra State that he has plans to get the Supreme Court to change its mind and make INEC withdraw its recognition of Njoku.

Chekwas claimed that Soludo told his close friends that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will influence the Supreme Court to change its decision in favor of Njoku. Soludo said he got this assurance from the President.

Soludo also told his group that INEC would quickly take back the recognition it gave to Chief Njoku and his team.

Soludo even boasted directly to Chekwas that he would use all his power as governor to make sure Njoku would never be the National Chairman of APGA.

Soludo said if he couldn’t stop Njoku from becoming Chairman, he would quit APGA within 24 hours, and the party would end.

Chekwas told him that he doesn’t have the power to destroy APGA because he is not the one who created it 22 years ago.

Chekwas said now that APGA has won in 3 different courts, Njoku has been kind and mature. Njoku has even tried to work together with Soludo and all APGA members, no matter their factions, to unite and rebuild the party.

Chekwas believes that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a true democrat and a good politician who defended his presidential election win in both the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and the Supreme Court.

Chekwas said people have left political parties before to start new ones, and it is not a big deal. But trying to destroy APGA to promote his own political plans is wrong and bad.

Chekwas called on all good Nigerians, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to stop Soludo from trying to destroy APGA.

Chekwas repeated that Soludo joined APGA on his own and he is free to leave the same way, without trying to destroy the party.
