On Friday night, some robbers attacked the Akwa Ibom State-owned Newspaper Company. This company publishes the Pioneer Newspaper. During the robbery, they killed Mr. Edet Obot, who was working as a temporary security guard.
The robbers stole many valuable items. They took a generator, televisions, and wire cables.
The head of the newspaper, Mr. Umoette Umoette, was not available to talk about what happened. However, a person who works at the newspaper shared what they knew but didn’t want anyone to know their name.
This person was very sad about the death of the security guard. They also thought that the robbers might have had help from someone inside the company.
The person said, “We are all very sad and upset. The security guard who was killed wasn’t even a full-time worker here. It seems like someone inside helped the robbers.”
The police spokesperson, ASP Timfon John, was contacted about the incident. She said she would give more information later but hadn’t done so by the time this report was written.
