The main political party in Nigeria, called All Progressives Congress (APC), wants to win the states of Abia and Enugu in the next big election in 2027.
APC says it is getting stronger in the South-East area and is ready to win more states in the next big election.
A person in charge of the APC, Ijeoma Arodiogu, spoke at a meeting in Abakaliki, which is a big city in Ebonyi State. Many important people from APC were also at this meeting.
Arodiogu said that they have talked with four Labour Party members from Enugu State’s House of Representatives. These members might switch to APC soon.
He also said that many leaders from other parties in Abia State have joined APC. One of these leaders is a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedu Orji.
He said: “In Enugu State, we have talked with four Labour Party members from the House of Representatives. They might join us soon.”
“In Abia State, many members from other political parties have joined us. This includes Chief Chinedum Orji and his group.”
“So, we are strong in all the states. We are happy because we think we can win all the South East states. In the 2027 election, we want to get 80–90 per cent of the votes, not just 25 per cent like before.”
“People now know that lies were used against us in the 2023 election. They said APC is a bad party, but that is not true.”
Another important APC member, Benjamin Kalu, asked everyone in the South-East to trust the APC leaders.
He said that President Bola Tinubu has done many good things for the South-East, like giving jobs and building roads.
He asked everyone to work together to make the party even stronger for the 2027 election.
The main chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the party needs to stay united to win in Abia, Anambra, and Enugu.
“Winning in Anambra, Abia, and Enugu states is a big challenge, but we are ready to work hard and win these states,” Ganduje said.
