Unidentified Occupants of SUV Kidnapped by Gunmen in Anambra

Must Read

On Saturday afternoon, some people driving an SUV were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

This happened in the Ifite area of Awka, near the back gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Many people in Awka, the main city in Anambra State, are worried because safety in the town is getting worse.

Last week, three people, who were said to be part of a gang, were killed on Sunday. Another person was killed on Monday.

In a video from Saturday, masked men are seen telling the people in the SUV to get out and move into their black Sienna car.

People who saw what happened said the kidnappers fired shots in the air and took the victims away. One of them also drove away in the victims’ car.

Lawrence Ibemesi, who lives in Awka, said: “We don’t understand what’s happening in Awka anymore. The police need to do more because these killings and kidnappings are getting out of hand.”

When DAILY POST talked to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police, he said: “We are looking at the video and talking to anyone who saw what happened to catch the kidnappers. We have also told our special teams to watch for any more troubles.”

When asked about the rise in crime and recent gang-related killings, Ikenga said the police were not aware of any recent gang killings in the city and that the reporter should bring any proof.
