The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to suspend Dan Orbih, who is the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South region. This happened because he said things against the party’s candidate for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, Asue Ighodalo.

PDP’s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, explained in a statement that the suspension was decided during the NWC’s 588th meeting on Wednesday. At this meeting, they talked about many issues, including complaints about what Dan Orbih has been doing related to the September 21, 2024, Governorship election in Edo State.

The statement mentioned that a group of six people will investigate Dan Orbih’s actions.

The statement also says: “The NWC, during the meeting, did not approve of Dan Orbih’s actions and words about the Edo State Governorship Primary Election. They believe what he did and said does not follow the PDP’s rules and what is expected from someone in his position.”

“Because of that, the NWC has set up a six-person committee led by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to look into the matter based on the party’s rules.

“While this investigation is happening, Dan Orbih is not allowed to take part in any meetings, activities, and programs of the NWC until the committee finishes its work.

“The NWC also thanked the people of Edo State for their support of our Party and Candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, who they believe will help continue to develop the State with the PDP’s ideas and plans.

“The NWC encouraged all leaders, important stakeholders, and members of our Party in Edo State to stay united, focused, and to work hard for the victory of our Party and Candidate in the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State.”
