Wabara, Atiku, Damagum’s Silence on Rivers Crisis Troubling – PDP Leader Fredfish

Must Read

A young leader and important member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Tom Fredfish, has spoken up about the silence of some PDP leaders. They are quiet while the current governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, and the former governor, Nyesom Wike, are having big disagreements.

On Tuesday, Dr. Fredfish shared his thoughts with DAILY POST. He said that a new court decision has made things worse. This decision overturned a previous ruling that stopped 25 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from acting like lawmakers.

Dr. Fredfish is confused why top PDP leaders like Senator Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Atiku Abubakar, the party’s leader and 2023 Presidential Candidate, and National Chairman Iliya Umar Damagum are staying silent. Are they scared to speak against Wike?

He wants them to speak up and support their governor, saying that their quietness goes against what the party believes in.

Fredfish’s statement reads in part, “People who love democracy should not stay quiet about the problems in Rivers State. The PDP national leaders must stand up and support their governor.”

“These problems started because Mr. Wike wants to keep his power and control over Rivers State even after leaving office. Many Nigerians are worried that the PDP and other leaders have not supported the governor. Are they afraid to tell the truth? Are they scared of Wike? Why won’t they call out Wike for trying to keep power?”

“I am especially worried that important leaders like Senator Adolphus Wabara, Atiku Abubakar, and National Chairman Iliya Umar Damagum are silent on this important issue. This silence affects the PDP’s future.”

“It’s sad and a betrayal for these leaders, who call themselves democrats, to stay neutral when the governor, a member of their own party, is facing challenges. Their actions go against the party’s values.”

“The PDP’s motto is Justice, Unity, and Progress. But where is the justice if 25 people who left the PDP can pretend they never left? Where is the unity if leaders can’t say ‘Enough’ to Wike and come together to strengthen the party? Where is the progress if PDP can’t get its house in order?”

“Staying silent when powerful people are making things hard for Governor Fubara is a betrayal.”

“It’s surprising that Atiku Abubakar often criticizes the ruling party, APC, but doesn’t speak against the undemocratic acts in Rivers State. He should bring party leaders together to show support for Governor Fubara. Not doing this is shameful.”

“Even though some are trying to weaken the PDP, Governor Fubara stands strong like the ‘Rock of Ages’. He is committed to giving the people of Rivers State good leadership. I am happy and proud of Governor Fubara for not giving in to threats.”

“Rivers State has supported the PDP for many years. The party should now support Governor Fubara to get rid of troublemakers. I call on PDP Chairman Ambassador Damagum and Atiku to act like real leaders or feel ashamed.”
