Austria Opens Doors to 196,000 Job Opportunities for Nurses, Plumbers, Carpenters, and Other International Talents

Austria is seeing a big rise in job openings! In the first part of 2024, there were around 196,400 jobs that no one has filled yet. That’s a lot of jobs waiting for people!

This is 8.5% more than the last part of 2023, where there were 181,000 open jobs. Many of these jobs are in the service area, like restaurants and hotels.

Here’s a simple break down of where the jobs are:

  • Service Jobs: 113,200 openings.
  • Manufacturing Jobs: 46,100 openings.
  • Public Jobs: 37,100 openings.

This means there’s a big chance for people from other countries to come and work in Austria. Jobs like nurses, plumbers, and carpenters are especially needed.

The Job Needs in Austria

Austria needs lots of workers in many different fields. The EURES report shows jobs that are really needed:

  • Service Area: Nurses and Cooks.
  • Manufacturing and Engineering: Electrical and Car Mechanics, Welders.
  • Construction: Plumbers, Pipefitters, Carpenters.
  • Technical Jobs: Electronics Technicians and Systems Analysts.

If you want to work in Austria and you’re not from the EU, there are different visas you can get:

  • D Visa: This is for people who want to work longer than 3 months. You need a job offer, a place to stay, money to live on, and health insurance.
  • Red-White-Red Card: This is for skilled workers. It lets you stay for up to two years. They look at your skills, work experience, age, and language knowledge.
  • EU Blue Card: This is for highly educated people. You need a high degree, a job with a good salary, health insurance, and a place to stay.
  • Job Seeker Visa: This lets you stay for six months to look for a job. You need to show you have the right qualifications and enough money to live on.

Austria pays good salaries for many jobs. Here are some examples:

  • Doctors: About €162,974 per year.
  • Nurses: About €69,552 per year.
  • Electrical Engineers: About €75,384 per year.
  • Car Mechanics: About €43,001 per year.

But, living in Austria can be expensive. It is one of the most costly places to live in Europe. Costs can be higher in city centers compared to outside the city centers.
