The Akwa Ibom State Police have caught some robbers who were making life difficult for the people in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, said in a report on Saturday that they made the arrest on July 1. Some of the robbers are still on the run.
The police officer named the suspects: John Okon Anta, Michael Osudua, and Inyene Joseph Edet. They are accused of attacking a person and stealing his Qlink motorcycle, phones, power bank, and charger, all at gunpoint.
Investigations showed that these suspects had also robbed two houses earlier in Afaha Ikot Abasi, taking away cell phones and other valuable items.
The police are still trying to catch the other robbers who ran away. So far, the suspects they caught have admitted to the crime. They will be taken to court after the investigation is finished.
The police also found a home-made pistol with the arrested robbers.
The Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara, said the police are working very hard to catch criminals and keep the state safe for everyone.
He thanked the public for their help and asked anyone with more information about the runaway suspects to call the police emergency lines 090400000065 or 08020913810, or to go to the nearest police station.
