Burna Boy Responds to Davido’s Artist Logos Olori: “I Write My Own Songs”

Must Read

Famous Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, who has won a Grammy, says he doesn’t use songwriters. This comes after Logos Olori, someone who signed with Davido, said many big artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido use songwriters.

Logos Olori talked about this in an interview with City 105.1 FM. He said, “People who make fun of artists for using songwriters don’t know much about the music industry. When you’re starting out, you write your own songs. But when you have 10 shows in a week in different countries, you realize you need help. Chris Brown has a songwriter, Michael Jackson had a songwriter. Davido is on tour after his wedding. He writes some of his songs but often needs help with the business part. Burna Boy and Wizkid do the same. If you look on Spotify at the song credits, you’ll see they use songwriters too.”

Burna Boy responded on his X handle (a social media platform) that he does not use songwriters. He explained that the names listed as songwriters on his songs are actually the producers because of western music rules.

He wrote, “Any name you see credited on my songs are only the producers or featured artists, not writers. The western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and includes their names as songwriters. Nobody can write for Odogwu.”

This is different from what Burna Boy said a few years ago. He admitted back then that Davido’s signee, Peruzzi, wrote a song for him. He said Peruzzi was the only songwriter he has ever worked with.
