President Bola Tinubu says he received the news of the death of Andrew Essien, Deputy Comptroller in Charge of Revenue, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), with deep sadness.
The President said this in a statement by his Press Assistant, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Essien died shortly after showing signs of unrest during a presentation to the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday.
President Tinubu expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the Deputy Comptroller, describing his death while on official duty as extremely distressing.
The President also commiserated with the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, as well as the officials, men and women of the Nigeria Customs Service.
President Tinubu prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased officer and consolation for his family.
