Finally, actress Liz Anjorin and Iyabo Ojo resolve a long-standing breakup

A month after their senior colleagues Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan and Yinka Quadri crushed their meats at actor Yomi Fabiyi’s housewarming and birthday party, Iyabo Ojo and Liz Anjorin, did the same.

The long-running feud between Ojo and Anjorin took on a new dimension in September 2023, when Anjorin accused celebrities of exploiting Mohbad’s death to gain influence.

Although Anjorin did not mention Ojo’s name, she (Ojo) said that she was convinced that the actress (Anjorin) was referring to her.

The actresses have since become embroiled in a public feud, using their social media platforms to trade barbs.

The dispute escalated in February when Anjorin accused Ojo of setting him up in a fraudulent gold and clothing transaction at Idumota market in Lagos.

The allegation prompted actress Ojo to file a legal suit for defamation and cyber harassment in February against Anjorin at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

PREMIUM TIMES reported in November 2023 that Ojo threatened legal action against Anjorin over the same allegations and demanded retractions in four national newspapers, a full apology posted on Anjorin’s verified social media for two weeks and compensation of N500 million. for damages.

Anjorin, however, did not appear at the court hearing scheduled for February, but Ojo, through his Instagram page, announced the postponement of the hearing until April 10.

But the long dispute between the actresses ended on Thursday during a court hearing before Judge Olabisi Akinlade, who brokered peace between the actresses.

Viral images obtained by this newspaper show the actresses smiling as they left the court, after Judge Akinlade intervened as a mediator to reconcile them.

After the trial, Anjorin’s lawyer, Olabiyi Ademola, confirmed that both actresses are willing to move forward peacefully.

She added that the judge offered both actresses “motherly advice” to stop fighting and cursing on social media and instead embrace peace.

Mr Ademola said: “The judge took on a maternal role, admonishing her daughters, offering them advice and emphasizing that court appearances are not perpetual. “She encouraged them to resolve their differences and I expressed confidence that justice would prevail, as evidenced by their smiles as they left the courtroom.”

Reacting, the actresses – Anjorin and Ojo – praised Mrs Akinlade as a mother figure for her efforts to resolve the long-running dispute between them.

The actresses (Anjorin and Ojo) stated that it is rare to find a judge who offers such insightful and compassionate advice rather than simply handing down a ruling.

Ojo explained that Mrs. Akinlade encouraged them to stop confusing people on social media.

The mother of two added that the judge also implored them to end their hostile altercations with each other.

“According to the judge, it is imperative that we refrain from negatively mentioning our names on social media and promote peace. This directive has been given to us as an order. Our relationship has always been peaceful, even before this,” Ojo said.

Anjorin, however, revealed that he intended for a sentence to be pronounced without them knowing that they were coming to court to see their mother.

“She stood out as a mother. If it were any other judge, her verdict would be final, incontestable. However, she deviated from the norm and expressed concern for us, offering us guidance on what actions to take and which to avoid.

“When I confessed my struggles to her on social media, she left the online realm aside, emphasizing her concern for us and expressing her desire to see harmony and unity between us instead of discord and fighting.”

Anjorin clarified that he has always maintained a peaceful relationship with actress Ojo, even before the court case began.

He said he dropped the matter immediately, following Justice Akinlade’s advice.

“If what you seek is peace, peace will be granted to you. If Gistlover comes after me, I’ll take on the blog. “We have always kept peace, but those media influencers depend on social media even before eating to stir up trouble.”

Anjorin further alleged that Ojo owns the popular gossip blog Gistlover, which she claims has been spreading false information about her.

Additionally, Anjorin’s social media posts hinted at accusations against a figure called ‘Sepeteri’, believed to be a pseudonym for Ojo. These insinuations included accusations of inappropriate behavior, even involving Ojo’s daughter.

Ojo responded to Anjorin’s rant in an Instagram video, challenging her to mention his name if she was directly referring to the allegations. Iyabo also claimed that Anjorin still owes him money from a previous film project.
