Bandits Raid Takkau Village in Sokoto, cattle from whisper while residents flee

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed a violent attack against the Takkau village in the Gongono district of the Local Government of Tangaza by alleged members of the Lakurawa bandits group.

According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred around 11:30 am of April 7, 2025, when about thirty armed bandits traveling in motorcycles broke into the community. The attackers fired in the air, causing generalized panic and forcing residents to flee to a safe place.

In chaos, the assailants suspended an unspecified number of cattle that the villagers flee.

A joint security task force quickly responded to a relief call and launched a search and rescue operation. Some of the stolen animals recovered successfully, and efforts are ongoing to track and detain the suspects fleeing.

The authorities have assured the community greater surveillance and continues the search for bandits to restore peace in the region.
