Owoupele, in his renunciation letter to the president, Ward 5, Ebedebiri, the area of the local government of Sagbama of the State of Bayelsa, said that his decision to download the party means the apparent negligence by the leadership of the party in the State that has forced many members dedicated to seeking an alternative political path.

In addition, he explained that this decision to leave the party represents the feelings and voice of many young and vibrant pillars of the party, who feel marginalized and deprived of their rights.

According to him, the party “had taken a descending slide that seems not decreased despite several attempts to bring realities to leadership.”

As a result of Owoupele's resignation, the zonal secretary of the southern zone of South PDP, George Turnah, said sadness, saying that the party has lost a committed member.

Turnah in a statement of his media assistant, Kevin Loveday-Egbo declared that Owoupele's resignation of the party highlighted the discontent and the frustrations that have impregnated within the ranks of our party in the state of Bayelsa.

He said: “Owoupele's resignation underlines the deep problems that affect our party, particularly ineffective leadership under the work committee of the current state.

He also pointed out that the failure of leadership and the high way that show the current state work committee have created an environment of impunity and illegality, which has contributed directly to the decrease in the influence of our party in the State.

Therefore, Turnah asked the members of the State Work Committee to immediately resign to save the party from a greater decrease.

“Its incompetence, inefficiency and several acts of impunity are intolerable. In particular, its actions, such as the establishment of an Executive Committee of the Factions Chamber for Ogbia Ward 9 and the unfair retention of the assignments of the legitimate executive of the same Chamber, exemplify a clear breach of the constitution of our party.

“The presentation of multiple cases against the party and its officers in the Superior Court of the State of Bayels without first exhausting the internal mechanisms available for conflict resolution is an additional indication of chaos and the division planted by the failed leadership. The time for change is now; we must prioritize the interests of our party and its loyal members,” he added.
