It was a day of extreme tragedy when Abba Musa, a boyfriend, and Maryam Suleiman, the bride's older sister, lost their lives in a fatal accident only 30 minutes before a wedding ceremony in Bauchi.
The accident occurred in Boto, the area of the local government of Tafawa Balewa of the state of Bauchi, sending shock waves through the community and immersing families and friends in the deep duel.
Eye witnesses reported that the victims were traveling from Murna, a town about five kilometers from Boto, when the tragic incident occurred.
The leadership reports that Saminu Boto, a boyfriend's brother, described the atmosphere in the community as one of deep pain.
“It is an unimaginable loss. The whole community is mourning, ”he said. “Families are in shock, struggling to understand the sudden and tragic turn of events.”
When describing the deceased, Boto said that Abba Musa was a young man with a good heart and ambitious who had been anxious to start a new life with his girlfriend, Raihanatu Suleiman. Meanwhile, Maryam Suleiman was remembered as a devout and solidarity sister who played an important role in the wedding organization.
“This double tragedy has thrown a shadow over the entire community,” he added.
“Many residents see this as one of the saddest days in recent memory.”
The remains of both victims were buried according to Islamic rites shortly after the accident.
The bride, devastated by the loss of her boyfriend and her sister in what should have been the happiest day of her life, remains inconsolable.
