Daily Post informs that the suspects were arrested in their business place, Railway Line Hotel, located along Old Bank Road in IFO.
The suspects are Anabell Udo, Ubong Rejice, Edaefe Sharon, Godwin Bassey, Okon Lovett, Eden Miracle, Monday Angel, Marvelous Samuel, Edet Nice and Asukwo Gift.
Others include Joy Effiong, Blessing of Efion, Asukwo Faith, the Savior of the United Kingdom, Andrew She and Eden Joy.
The state commander of the body, Commander Alade Adedigba, while parading the suspects at the headquarters of the command in Abeokuta, said they are between 12 and 29 years old.
Adedigba revealed that the suspects were arrested around 6:15 am Wednesday after an intelligence report received on Saturday.
The commander revealed that 14 of the girls were trafficked with Akwa Ibom, while the others came from the states of Cross River and Delta.
He said: “We received intelligence reports this month, and according to that, we have been processing intelligence. Around 6:15 am today, we were able to arrest 16 of them, ranging between 12 and 29 years.
“All were arrested in one place, Railway Line Hotel, Old Bank Bus Stop, in Ifo Town. The main suspect is Mrs. Eden Joy. She was the one who trafficked all these people, but in her statement, she mentioned that the hotel owner, a Mrs. Okutoro Yemisi, 60, is her boss. “
According to the commander, during the interrogation, the victims confessed that when they were brought from their various places to IFO, they were made an oath while they are naked, with parts of their hair cut for rituals, so they felt unable to escape.
Some of the recovered items included a sum of N819,600, several types of drugs, a cardboard of condoms, energy potentiators and silk paper packages, among others.
The suspects also revealed that the tissue paper used by their clients was collected and maintained by their boss.
“These victims also made us understand that the majority of the silk paper used by customers generally remains and is delivered to the trafficker for other purposes,” said Adedigba.
“Then, for those who sponsor people like this, they must be very careful with their own security.”
While he regrets that suspects are young people who should be at school, but in their place they are arrested in a hidden place to obtain financial profits, he warned that the State would not tolerate any form of illegality, indiscipline or anything that can threaten security
He appreciated the members of the public for their support and timely information, and added that the suspects would be transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, for greater investigation.
