The Governor of the State of Osun, Senator Adela Adelev, warned on Wednesday the opposition that planned that they promote crisis in the next elections of the local government scheduled for February 22, 2025 in the state to withdraw from such, due to its serious consequences .
The governor who withdrew the warning in a statement from his spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed in Osogbo said: “We have credible reports of frames by elements within the opposition to the foment crisis in the state of Osun.
“I warn those who plot so badly to give up due to their serious consequences. As Security Director of this State, I have ordered security agencies that are decisively with any promoter of violence within the context of the rule of law. We will not allow this State to immerse itself in an without foundation conflict.
“Democracy is ballots, not weapons and cuts. Go to the survey on the 22nd. It makes your preference known peacefully. Osun is a bastion of democracy. We are ready since we have the ability to defend our democratic inheritance. ”
He, however, assured all those interested in non -interference, promising not interference from the state government.
The governor who hosted the peaceful campaigns of several political parties before the elections urged candidates for all parties to sell their agenda to the voter public instead of resorting to violence or the sprain of arms.
“As a government, we are committed to free and fair elections. We have followed the preparatory activities of the State Electoral Commission and assure the public that we respect the independence of the Commission to carry out credible elections.
“We are highly educated in the state of Osun. Our literacy level is at its highest point. This is not a state in which residents can be lying. They read and digest court decisions and political subjects without being deceived. I urge our people to prepare for February 22. It is an opportunity to vote for its presidents and councilors of the preferred council.
“We are a nation governed by law. The Judiciary, has been said recently, is the omen of hope. We must avoid misrepresentation and erroneous information on judicial processes. We have the sacred duty to avoid false news. It is a punishable crime with the law, ”he presented.
