The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole has asked the global community to come and invest in Nigeria.
Speaking while I was in an interview with CNN, Oduwole said the country is becoming digital.
“I am telling the world, Nigeria is open for business.
“We are digital, five out of nine (9) unicorns in Africa are Nigeria, the Nigerians have talent, our young people are incredible. Do not miss the wave, we are ingenious, we are resistant. We are agile, despite the deficiency of power, we look at our economy. ”
“During the last nine years, I have been working on commercial climatic reforms. In fact, that is why I get this work, ease of doing business. With more than 200 verifiable reforms implemented or verified by the World Bank, Nigerian companies have learned to trust the processes.
“The Presidential Council that enables the business environment (BEPEB) has complied with that mandate. So now is the time to take it further. Move it to the promotion of the investment, move it to exports of services because you need less infrastructure. So it is a faster victory for Nigeria, ”he added.
Oduwole explained that there is no shortcut. “They are people, problems, processes and infrastructure. We need to start making sure there is more transparency and efficiency to make it a progressively easier place to start and grow a business. ”
He also noted that the country's aviation sector has made impressive reforms. “Nigeria was a signatory for the Cape City Convention, but we had not done the rules of procedure in the Federal Superior Court.
“So that has been done last year, and now the aviation sector is paying attention to investment” with cheaper aircraft opportunities for lease.
“Those are the things that open new routes and connectivity. Then they are services, services, services. Nigeria's GDP makes it good for services and is growing, ”said the minister.
