Kano's emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has asked for peace and patience among Rimin Zakara residents after the recent disturbances, which were charged three lives, on a land dispute between the community and the University of Bayero, Kano (Kano ( Buk).
Sanusi made the appeal on Tuesday night during his visit to the area on his return from the pilgrimage.
He said: “When violence explodes, it is our own people who suffer. No amount of destruction or bloodshed will solve the problem. We must work together to protect lives and properties. “
The EMIR urged residents to exercise restriction and allow due legal processes to continue their course, emphasizing that violence only results in greater suffering.
While heading to the community, the EMIR expressed their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the clashes and prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
Recognizing the complexity of the dispute, which has remained for years, the EMIR said that both the community and the university claim the legal property of the land.
He emphasized the need for evidence -based resolution through the courts and a collective dialogue with the relevant authorities.
“This matter should not be complicated. If the case is in court, it must be resolved with clear evidence. We must sit with all interested parties to find a lasting solution.
“The life of an individual is more valuable than the whole world. We must work together to ensure that such tragedies will never happen again. Justice will prevail, and Allah is always with those who represent the truth, ”he said.
To facilitate peace, the EMIR announced plans to establish a committee that includes representatives of all interested parties, including state government, BUK management, security agencies and community leaders, to address the problem.
“We will involve the governor, the BUK authorities and security officials to ensure justice. However, if he has sold his land and received compensation, he must accept reality.
“We must pray for the souls of the deceased and by force so that their families have this loss. That this is the last of such tragic incidents in our community, ”he said.
Emir Sanusi urged residents to prioritize peace and unity, emphasizing that no land or property is worth the loss of human life.
