A non -governmental organization, a network against corruption and traffic (Nacat), has opined that Nigeria and the world will enjoy peace and stability, when leaders are responsible for their actions.

Mr. Michael Ekpo, the South Coordinator -sur de Nacat issued the opinion during a press conference to commemorate the great inauguration of the South Zonal Office -sur of the organization in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on the weekend.

He said that the organization intends to monitor the spending of funds from the local government in the South-South region, with the approval of the LG autonomy bill and so many funds that go directly to the LGA.

He said: “No, we are not sponsored. Nacat has been on the ground. Nacat has investigated Okowa in the state of Delta. The same way that Nacat wrote a petition against UDOM to EFCC is the same way he wrote against Okowa.

“I have heard insinuations and accusations that the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, is behind our request against former Udom-Gov. It is not true because Nacat will investigate the administrations present and passed in the State, including that of Akpabio.

“Nacat has achieved a lot over the years in its fight against corruption, but it is the request against Udom that has made the organization popular in the state of Akwa Ibom. There is a lot to do, that is why an office has been established in the state to supervise the Southsouth region.

“The federal government will pay money directly to local governments and can imagine what they will do with our money. The majority of the presidents of the local government will leave after four years and will have nothing to show for the billions that will be paid in their accounts.

“That is why we have to sit and strategies how we are going to be guard dogs. This is the right time for us to work for our people. Nacat is not sponsored by any politician. We are working for people. ”
