The Sokoto Police Command has arrested Musbahu Auwal, a security guard at the National Broadcasting Commission Zonal Office in Sokoto, for allegedly conspiring with others to steal office materials and equipment.
This was revealed in a statement by the Command spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai.
According to the statement, on January 17, 2025, at around 2:50 p.m., Ladan Muhammad, Zonal Director of the National Broadcasting Commission in Sokoto, reported a robbery at the Uguwar Rogo Police Station.
He stated that unknown persons had stolen items from the Commission office in Gagi area of ​​Sokoto.
Following the report, police officers, led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), visited the scene and confirmed that several items were missing.
These included a three-kilovolt inverter, three 600-kilovolt inverter batteries, a refrigerator compressor, a new tire for an office bus and a 32-inch LG television.
During the investigation, Musbahu Auwal was invited for questioning. He confessed to conspiring with Ismaila Ahmad of Nakasare area to steal the items. Further investigations led to the arrest of Yahuza Tukur and Abdulrahman Abbas, both from the Nakasare area, for helping to conceal the stolen items. Three other suspects (Basiru Lawali of Kuffa area, Murtala Tijani of Kwanni and Abubakar Umar of Gangaren Kuffa) were arrested as recipients of the stolen goods. All stolen items were recovered.
Police Commissioner CP Ahmed Musa praised the officers involved in the operation and acknowledged the cooperation of the public. He urged citizens to continue supporting the police to improve service delivery and assured that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted.
