Popular Nigerian gospel artiste Bunmi Akinnaanu-Adeoye has opened up about her difficult road to success and revealed how she borrowed clothes and jewelry to film her music videos, especially Omije Oju mi.
In a viral video on social media, the singer shared personal stories of resilience and determination in Yoruba.
She revealed how her struggles shaped her and motivated her to persevere despite overwhelming challenges.
Reflecting on her life, the “Omije Ojumi” singer said: “If you listen to my story, you will cry with me. I don't like giving interviews because, at some point, everyone involved (the interviewer, the interviewee, and the cameraman) will burst into tears. “My story is very bad.”
Bunmi recounted the extreme poverty of her early years, in which she was dressed in rags and bathroom slippers to go to church. Despite these difficulties, she refused to let circumstances define her.

She also admitted that all the outfits and pieces of jewelry she wore in the music video for the hit song Ibere Nla from her album Omije Ojumi, produced by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), were borrowed.
“All the clothes I wore in the song Ibere Nla were borrowed,” he said.
“If you look at the video, the blue-black iro and buba I was wearing was fashionable at the time, but it wasn't mine. In fact, if you look closely, another person used it among the dancers in the video.”
She also shared how the earrings worn in the video came with a strict condition.
“The person who lent them to me was in the video, standing behind me. She warned me: 'If you lose it, you're dead.' At one point, the earring fell and she told me to pick it up quickly because it couldn't get lost.”
