Security guard arrested for stealing company property in Ogun

Officers of the Onipanu Division of the Ogun State Police have arrested a 59-year-old security guard, identified as Olaitan Matthew, for the alleged theft of electric motor parts belonging to a company he works for.
Matthew, who works with Land Star Company, located at Tomori, Animashaun Estate, in the Ota area of ​​the state, was arrested at around 4.30am on Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested by the division's anti-crime team when he did not give a proper explanation of how he obtained the engine parts.

Confirming his arrest to Newslodge, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the suspect, after several questions, confessed to stealing the company's parts while production was temporarily stopped.

Odutola said: “On January 15, 2025, at around 4:30 am, the Onipanu Division Anti-Crime Team detained a 59-year-old security guard named Olaitan Matthew at Land Star Company, located at Tomori Estate, Animashaun Estate . , Ota.

“He was found in possession of electric motor parts and was unable to provide satisfactory answers as to how they came into his possession. When pressed further, he admitted that they had been stolen from the same company he was hired for.”

Odutola stated that an investigation is still underway to recover other items he had stolen from the company.
