The Edo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, on Friday said 15 suspects were arrested for operating private security guard companies without a license in the state.

Gbenga Agun, the state commander of the corps, who revealed this in Benin during an event organized to mark the new year and his first year in office, said the corps also closed five private guard companies.

Agun also added that the command's Private Guard Company Department trained 96 private guards in the period under review.

While he revealed that 110 suspects were arrested for various criminal offenses in the state in 2024, he added that five of the cases were taken to court, with five judgments obtained in favor of the force and another six still pending in court.

He added that the command's anti-fraud unit also recovered N1,655,000 for various victims in the year under review, among several other interventions.

According to him, the command dealt with 25 cases of intervention by the Agro Rangers Unit, preventing bloody clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

“The force also provided security services to farms such as Okomu, Ellah Lakes Farms and NCSC Farms, among others. The command's Peace and Conflict Unit also resolved 59 cases,” he said.
