Eyewitnesses said the burned bodies of the deceased were discovered by neighbors and sympathizers during efforts to reorganize the property after firefighters finished controlling the situation.

Confirming the incident to journalists, the Police Officer-in-Charge of Karu Division in Abuja, Lakur Langyi, said his men received distress calls at midnight on Wednesday from the area and rushed to the spot, where they discovered a woman and her son burned to the bone. death.

He said the origin of the fire is yet to be determined, adding that the police have since launched an investigation into the matter.

“Yes, there was a fire in Kugbo in a place called Bakassi. “My men received distress calls at midnight on Wednesday and moved to the area, where they discovered a woman, identified as Jumai Sunday, with her one-and-a-half-year-old son burned to death,” he said.

The victims have since been buried at the Kugbo cemetery along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi highway.
