The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kano State Command, has arrested 34 suspects with different quantities of illicit substances.

This was contained in a statement by the command's spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, on Wednesday in Kano.

Muhammad-Maigatari quoted the agency's State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, as saying that the arrests were made during a raid, as part of proactive measures to ensure a safe and drug-free Kano during the Christmas and New Year celebration.

“On December 24, the agency cleared several notorious drug trafficking establishments across the state. “These drug dens are located in Fagge area, Sani Abacha stadium, Danagundi and the historically infamous Filin Idi drug den,” he said.

Idris-Ahmad said the command recovered a substantial quantity of illicit substances such as cannabis sativa, suck and die and Exol-5, among others.

According to him, other items recovered include dangerous weapons used by drug traffickers to chase and attack officers.

He further explained that the operation demonstrated the agency's commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the availability of harmful substances within the community during the holiday seasons.

Idris-Ahmad noted that investigations were ongoing and that the culprits would be charged to court once the investigation was completed.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of all citizens of Kano.
