2027: Obasanjo should rally other former leaders to rescue Nigeria —Lukman

Salihu Lukman, former National Vice President (North West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on former President Olusegun Obasanjo to rally other former leaders to rescue Nigeria ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Lukman, in a statement titled Satanic Leadership and Nigeria's Boiling Point: Open Letter to Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, expressed strong reservations about the lack of concerted efforts by the heads of the opposition leaders to work together and forge a common front before the next general elections.

Lukman, who noted that certain presidential aspirants have been touring the country, individually to seek support for their aspirations in 2027, stated that such individual efforts would make a new term for Tinubu smooth.

He said: “Unfortunately, it would appear that the national mindset is not interested in producing a functional political party. Part of the big drawback is the fact that almost everyone is worried about the election candidates, which has produced a fixed mentality in all shades of opinion in the country and which keeps the country in a permanent state of equilibrium that motivates politicians to operate based on their ability to impose candidates and manipulate elections.

“This has unfortunately reduced almost all politicians to something that is not democratic. Consequently, very few politicians prioritize building relationships with citizens as the basis for electoral victory. In other words, almost all average politicians operate with a conquest mentality. As a result, the business of politics and governance is reduced to a cheerleading rally.

“These are the fundamental questions. As long as politics and governance continue to be demoted to the status of a cheerleading assembly, the satanic genotype will continue to be the makeup of Nigeria's leadership. With that composition, acts of impunity will continue to drive politics and even if we produce new parties with different names, those parties will, at best, be clones of the PDP and the APC.

“That is exactly what destroyed APC with all the potential it had in 2015. How can we as a nation change that? Is there any prospect that in the shortest possible time the process of political reengineering will produce a functional party that can be activated to serve as a harbinger of the emergence of leaders with pious genotype?

“Your Excellency, this is the crux of this open letter. I believe that in the shortest possible time the process of producing a functional political party is possible, which can be the harbinger of the emergence of leaders with a pious genotype.

“In fact, it has already started. However, there are risk factors that, if left alone, can contaminate the process and take us back to square one and end up with another cloned PDP/APC. “Once that is the case, we may end up with worse leaders based on satanic logic. The biggest risk factor is failing to humiliate all the opposition political leaders and get them to unite under a single political platform. “Some opposition leaders are already resisting efforts to form a united political platform, largely due to their subsidiary ambitions to participate in the elections. Because of such subsidiary ambitions, some are already playing the old hegemonic games of caucus loyalists or cheerleaders. “Three of them are former state governors.”

“There is also a group associated with one of the legacy parties that merged to form the APC. This group is already developing the so-called lineup of leaders for an imaginary party that would be made up of opposition leaders. “In many states the so-called gubernatorial candidates have already been chosen. With such a panorama, it logically means that they already have their presidential candidate.

“There are some who are hiding behind the so-called consultation shuttle mission for some of you, particularly His Excellency and other former leaders like General Gowon and General Babangida. Some of them are stirring up regional and ethnic debates in the country and are forming so-called regional “democratic” bodies who are nothing more than aristocrats with a mission to deceive innocent citizens and end up producing another assembly of satanic leaders for Nigeria in 2027. A rebuttable Nigerian linked to one of the global financial institutions is accused of financing one of the so-called regional “democratic” bodies. The old card of imposition and possible strategy to rig 2027 is already showing its ugly face.”

Lukman further alleged that the ruling party is instigating division within the ranks of opposition leaders.

“I can say with authority that the current mindset of President Tinubu and APC is to keep the opposition divided as a basis for winning the 2027 elections.

“I will therefore strongly point out that any political leader who does not agree with the current sad reality or what His Excellency rightly described as Nigeria has leaders made by Satan, who refused to work with other opposition leaders, such leader is inadvertently working for the electoral victory of APC and President Tinubu in 2027. And anyone who panders or supports those leaders is also inadvertently working for the electoral victory of APC and President Tinubu in 2027. 2027. Many of them, without realizing it, Those working for the electoral victory of APC and Asiwaju in 2027 have little or nothing to lose. In any case, these are people whose elasticity to survive is very high and their ability to make personal adjustments to any situation they face is unlimited. They can continue to mismanage the country's politics and, by extension, govern because of narrow personal ambitions, even if the country is too destroyed.”
