Bauchi: Association reprimands MURIC for its opposition to Sayawa chiefdom

Must Read

The Zaar Development Association (ZDA) has condemned Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) for its opposition to the proposed creation of Sayawa Chiefdom in Bauchi State. MURIC leader Professor Ishaq Akintola had urged Governor Bala Mohammed not to establish the chiefdom, saying it would be a Christian chieftaincy.

The ZDA described MURIC's statement as “a collection of disinformation, deception, threats and propaganda.”

The association emphasized that the proposed Headquarters does not contravene any constitutional law and will not institutionalize religious discrimination.

According to the ZDA, the creation of Sayawa Chiefdom is a positive step towards inclusion, cultural recognition and peaceful coexistence between the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria.

The association expressed confidence that Governor Bala Mohammed will not be swayed by MURIC's threats and will establish the leadership as planned.

The ZDA also warned MURIC and others to engage constructively, rather than sowing seeds of division.

The association emphasized that the goal of the Headquarters is to provide a platform for all ethnic and religious groups in the area to work together for the common good.
