The Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Bishop Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, has called for a Muslim governor in Lagos by 2027.
According to the Archbishop, this would be an important step towards promoting religious tolerance and inclusion in the state.
Speaking at the 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Lagos House of Assembly, Archbishop Olawuyi noted that Christians have held the governorship position for 12 consecutive years.
He stressed the need for unity and effective governance, stating that it is time to give Muslim brothers a chance to govern the State.
“I also want to add that we take into account the religious inclination in Lagos State. It would be 12 years in 2027 that we have been together in the system and we have had Christians as governors.
“Now is the time to give our Muslim brothers the opportunity to govern us in Lagos State. We want to pray that when election time comes, it will be time to choose who will govern us in Lagos State effectively,” the Archbishop said.
