Ondo Governorship Election: Parties to Sign Peace Agreement on November 8

Must Read

Political parties in Ondo State will make a promise to keep things peaceful during their election on November 8.

This promise is part of a plan organized by the National Peace Committee and INEC, which helps make sure elections are calm and fair.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who leads INEC, told everyone this news on Thursday in Abuja. He said that INEC has spotted some areas in Ondo where there might be trouble and has teamed up with security groups to prevent any conflicts.

During a meeting with groups working to make society better (CSOs), Professor Yakubu mentioned that INEC will be checking next week to see if everything is ready for the election. This check involves talking with different people like security teams, election workers, and those providing transport services.

Professor Yakubu also said that people had a chance to pick up their voting cards recently. Out of 89,777 cards, 64,273 were picked up. That’s about 71.6% of the total cards. The good groups (CSOs) really helped people understand why getting their cards was important. INEC plans to let people know how many cards were collected in each voting area on its website.

Professor Yakubu is happy because they have made the way they check voters and report results better. They have also improved how they work with the media and election observers.
