Rodri Wins the Big Trophy!
Rodri is a soccer player who plays in the middle part of the field. He is very good at what he does, and guess what? He won a shiny trophy called the 2024 Ballon d’Or! This trophy is very special because it says that Rodri is one of the best soccer players in the whole world.
Rodri is from Spain. He beat other really good players: Vinicius Junior, Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe. These players are all stars from a team called Real Madrid. Rodri’s big win happened on Monday night in a city called Paris in France.
So, why did Rodri win? Well, he helped his team, Manchester City, win something called the Premier League. He also helped Spain win at something called Euro 2024. That’s like winning two big games! No wonder he got the big trophy!
But, not everyone was super happy. The players from Real Madrid thought their friend Vinicius was going to win. Everyone thought he did a great job, so it was a surprise that he didn’t win.
Because Vinicius didn’t win, no one from Real Madrid came to the big celebration to get the trophy. They decided to stay home instead of coming to Paris. They were probably a bit sad about it.
There was a reporter named Femi Fabunmi who talked about this. He said Rodri did a great job for his team and his country, so he deserved to win. He also thought it was cool to see someone who defends well win because usually the prize goes to players who try to score goals.
