The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State is very unhappy with what a man named Tony Okocha is doing. Tony is trying to stop money from going to local government offices. This is how the APC told people about it.
A person who talks for APC, Darlington Nwauju, explained that Tony and his group used to be in charge, but now they are not. However, they still act like they are in charge, even though a judge said they shouldn’t.
Darlington said Tony is not helping the state. By blocking the money, Tony is making it hard for the local governments to do their work. These local government offices need the money to help people in the area.
Recently, Tony told people he went to court because he thinks something went wrong with how the funds were being given. He wants to stop the money for a process he believes isn’t right.
The APC statement said, “We have looked at what is happening in our state, especially with how local offices are working, and we think we need to act. If we do nothing, it will only make the problem bigger and hurt our democracy.”
APC said they are surprised that Tony and his friends are ignoring a judge’s decision. The court had said Tony and his group should stop claiming to be leaders. Instead, Tony is looking to another court in Abuja, hoping they will agree with him and stop the money for local offices in Rivers State.
This issue is serious because many people in Rivers State need this money. Local government offices use the money to pay workers and help people. Without it, a lot of people might have a hard time.
