Edo APC Claims Obaseki’s Recruitment of 4000 Teachers is a Trap for Okpebholo

Must Read

In less than 20 days, Governor Godwin Obaseki will finish his job as the boss of Edo State. But before he leaves, his team is hiring 4,000 teachers. People from another team called the All Progressives Congress (APC) don’t think this is a good idea. They say it’s like putting a tricky trap for the next leader, Mr. Monday Okpebholo.

A man named Prince Kassim Afegbua, who is part of the APC team, talked about this on Sunday in a message he shared in Benin City. He said that hiring these teachers now is like trying to overfill the system for the new team.

Prince Kassim said that Governor Obaseki didn’t hire any teachers when he was in office for a long time. But now, just before leaving, he suddenly wants to hire 4,000. He thinks this might not be a genuine move. For years, the schools didn’t get new teachers, and now suddenly, they do.

He also said that people who think they are being hired as teachers should be careful. He believes this hiring process might only be a trick by Governor Obaseki. He thinks it’s a way to get money from places like the World Bank just for himself and his friends.

Prince Kassim believes that this hiring proves APC’s point that Obaseki’s project, EdoBest, wasn’t real help for schools and didn’t truly benefit the people of Edo or their children’s education.

Prince Kassim remembered the last leader, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who also hired 2,500 teachers before he left. But when Obaseki came in, he didn’t continue with those hires simply because he didn’t like the way it was done.

He shared that this time, the new leader, Senator Okpebholo, promises to hire teachers properly. He said that Senator Okpebholo will not play political games with hiring teachers because it’s important for the future of Edo’s kids. He will make sure hiring is done right and fair.

Lastly, Prince Kassim repeated that EdoBest was never a real project to help improve schools. It was just something Governor Obaseki did for his gain and not really for the people.
