Kaduna Council Election Deemed a Farce by Chairmanship Candidate

Must Read

A leader and candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recent local government election in Kagarko, a place in Kaduna State, Nigeria, named Ahmadu Yunusa Yusuf, said the whole election was a big joke.

When talking to journalists, Yusuf said that there was no election in any place in Kagarko, even though the group in charge of elections in the state, called the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), said there was.

He said, “It’s funny because even though there was no election, the election group still announced that the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), won the election everywhere in the state.”

He also said that one party winning all the elections has never happened before in the state since people started voting long ago. This makes it seem like the state government and the election group are not being honest.

Yusuf said it is both funny and wrong for the state leader, Uba Sani, and the election group to say to everyone in Nigeria that APC won all the elections. He emphasized that in their state, local elections have never been all won by just one party. Because of this, they are asking the country’s big bosses not to give the state more money for local governments since an election didn’t really happen.

The PDP candidate mentioned that he has audio and video proof showing that no election took place anywhere in Kagarko. He said he has videos of people being paid to fill out voting papers where they felt safe, and even a video of the state leader being booed at his own voting place, trying four times before he could vote.

He is asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national assembly to look into this for the sake of fair and honest elections in the country. He said he won’t fight the election results in court because there was no real election in Kagarko.
