The Zenith Labour Party, or ZLP, in Abia State is getting ready for the upcoming local elections. These elections will choose new leaders for the community. The ZLP has started their campaign, which means they are telling people why they should vote for them.
The campaign kickoff was at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. Here, Chris Onukwue, the big boss of the party in the state, told everyone that the candidates need to visit every corner of Abia State to talk to the people. Chris wants the leaders running for positions to work hard and win the election, set to happen on Saturday, November 2.
Chinedu Ekeke, who used to help Governor Alex Otti, is running for a leadership spot in Isuikwuato. Smart Ihuoma is doing the same in Umuahia North. These leaders and others are confident. They think if they talk to many people across Abia State, they can be successful. They also promise to bring fresh ideas to the community if they win on November 2.
Right now, the bigger Labour Party in Abia is having some problems. Some groups within the party, led by Emmanuel Otti and Ndubueze, are fighting over who should be in charge.
While this is happening, ZLP posters and signs are appearing everywhere in Umuahia and Aba. This means the ZLP thinks they have a good chance to win on November 2.
On a different note, Governor Alex Otti was in Aba on Thursday. He was looking at some new projects that were completed by the leader of Aba South LGA. Governor Otti believes the people of Abia will choose the best leaders, no matter which group they belong to.
“Abia people care about choosing the best leaders,” Governor Otti told everyone in Aba.
