The Federal Government has opened a new learning center called the Export Skills Acquisition Centre (ESAC) in Apapa, Lagos. This center is here to help Nigeria’s fashion online market grow and could reach $422.8 million by 2024.

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has started this center to make Nigeria’s products popular around the world, not just oil.

Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, who is the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, shared the news about the center on her social media account. She also talked about how big the fashion business could get.

She said the new center will help Nigeria take advantage of Africa’s big $31 billion fashion market.

The center wants to teach young people and women new skills like making bags, handling accessories, and understanding how to sell products well. This way, they can become the next big sellers from Nigeria to the world.

“So happy to start the @OfficialNEPC Export Skills Acquisition Centre (ESAC) in Apapa, Lagos! It’s a big step for Nigeria’s selling businesses. We will teach our youth and women how to make bags and accessories, helping Nigeria join Africa’s $31 billion fashion world.

“With special training in making products, checking their quality, and trading across borders, we’re helping the next big sellers from Nigeria to grow,” her post said.

It further said, “Together, we’re opening doors to world markets and better money-making opportunities. The future of products made in Nigeria is looking bright!”

The center will help create more jobs, especially for women and young people, which is important for the country’s growth.

Why This Matters

  • The Minister’s message explains why the Export Skills Acquisition Centre (ESAC) is important. It focuses on teaching young people and women the skills they need.
  • This plan matches the government’s goals by supporting new businesses and promoting non-oil products for sale.
  • With training in making products, checking quality, and selling internationally, ESAC is raising future Nigerian sellers who can compete worldwide.
  • The center helps develop items made in Nigeria and makes it easier for these items to be sold in other countries.
  • The ESAC will help unlock new ways for Nigeria to trade in Africa’s fashion and online store growing world.

Overall, this program helps Nigerian business people compete better globally by giving them important tools and knowledge to succeed in today’s world market.
