Nigeria has exciting news! A man named Wahid Enitan Oshodi is now the boss of all table tennis in Africa. He became president of the African Table Tennis Federation (which we call ATTF) on Tuesday.
Let me tell you a little bit about Mr. Oshodi. Before this big job, he used to work to make sports in Lagos State better. Lagos is a big city in Nigeria. And do you know what? He didn’t have to compete with anyone else to get this new job. That means everyone agreed he was the best person for the job!
Before Mr. Oshodi, the president was someone from Egypt named Khaled El-Salhy. So now Mr. Oshodi will be the new leader of all the table tennis players and matches in Africa.
This important meeting, where Mr. Oshodi was chosen, happened in Addis Ababa. That’s the capital city of a country called Ethiopia. They talked about table tennis and decided who would be in charge next year, in 2024.
Here’s something cool: Mr. Oshodi is the first person from Nigeria to ever be the big boss of table tennis in all of Africa! That’s a big deal. Right now, he’s the only person from Nigeria who is leading such a big sports group on the whole continent of Africa.
Before getting this exciting position, Mr. Oshodi was also the big boss for table tennis just in Nigeria. It’s like he was captain of the Nigerian team, and now he’s captain of the whole African team! Isn’t that amazing?
